Tri-Con Materials has a rich history in the aggregate industry, dating back to 1968 when it was founded as Walnut Sand and Gravel by Richard 'Dick' Nelson and his brother Ronald Nelson. Over the years, Tri-Con Materials has operated gravel pits in Walnut, Hennepin, and Henry, providing top-quality washed aggregates for asphalt, concrete, and base material applications. In 1992, Tri-Con Materials was formed as a union company based in Serena, LaSalle County. In 1997, Tri-Con Materials merged with Walnut Sand and Gravel to become the operating entity it is today.
